Inspired by Carly Riordan, here are 10 things that have been on my mind lately. This brings it back to the “old school” days of blogging where people would just post online about their thoughts and musings. A lot of content these days is sponsored or “curated” but I thought it’d be fun to just write about random things that are going on in my life. 1. SPORCLE I’m a huge fan of lists – if you couldn’t tell by my 101 in 1001 challenge. I also love a good trivia/quiz situation. Introduce Sporcle. It’s an online “World of Quizzes” where people can create and play quizzes. The beauty of…

Weekend Bachelorette Party in Austin!
It’s been 3 since getting married, but almost 4 months since my bachelorette party! My sister and Maid of Honor planned such a fun weekend with my closest friends. I knew I wanted to do something in Austin because there were so many different things to do and it was a pretty central location for everyone. Think hiking, swimming, shopping, and lots of eating. I told my sister I wanted a relaxing weekend with activities around Austin during the day, chill evenings, and lots of photo ops! In my opinion she did just that. I went to school in Austin for 5 years to get my Bachelor and Master degrees…

7 Ways to Survive Busy Season
Busy season is finally here! And although mine technically started last week, my thoughts on it remain the same: overwhelming, daunting and exhausting. For those who didn’t know, I went to The University of Texas in Austin for my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting and now work as an auditor for one of the Big 4 accounting firms in Houston As accountants, we each are given the gift of having a “busy season”. Mine usually lasts from January to May, which is longer than most. In auditing, our busy season is all about making sure that the 10-Ks those companies put out are legit. To me, this time of…

My Top 5 Passion Projects for 2018
I was scrolling through Instagram last night, as I usually do before bed, and stumbled upon the idea of passion projects. I thought it was just another Instagram hashtag that people were using, but I did some research (aka a Google search) and it’s actually a thing! A passion project is essentially a side project that interests you. Initially that seems pretty broad but I think that’s what makes it a great concept. I love the idea of having projects outside of your daily work life that is centered around a topic that you are passionate about. There have been plenty of things that I have always had an interest in but…

2018 Goals
I can’t believe another year has passed and we are in 2018! Last year was possibly one of the most stressful yet most wonderful years of my life. I experienced my first “busy season” as a full-time auditor with 16+ hour work days. On top of that, I was trying to plan my dream wedding! If you ask my now husband what our lives were like last year he would definitely say those were trying times. Luckily for us, we made it through. It has been over a year as a working professional and now I am now a wife (it still feels weird to say). 2018 feels like a…

Making Our Wedding Album
Drew and I got our wedding photos back a few weeks ago and they are absolutely beautiful! Lindsay took over 2500 photos and had them ALL edited and back to us within TWO WEEKS of our wedding. Two weeks people! I don’t know how she does it but we love her for it! Now that we have all of these wonderful photos, I wanted to put them into an album that we could keep forever. Last summer, I made a photobook with all of our adventures from our time in China. We took so many pictures but didn’t know what to do with them, so I decided that creating a photobook…

Top Three Priorities!
Planning a wedding can be overwhelming to say the least. There are so many moving parts that the entire thing can quickly become too much. Something I did when I first started planning was pick my top three priorities. These were the three things that were the most important to me and that most of our budget would go towards. If something wasn’t in the top three, then we didn’t need to spend the extra time or money trying to find the best of the best (full disclose: way easier said than done!). I thought about things that would make the biggest impact on our experience and be most memorable…

How to Start Planning for your Wedding
A lot of people may not know this, but I actually didn’t want to have a wedding. I wanted to elope with just the two of us in some beautiful location around the world, and then go on the best vacation we could have ever dreamed of. Fast forward 18 months of being engaged filled with planning, budgeting, emails, tears (happy and sad), and lots of hugs from Drew, we had the most amazing wedding either of us could have ever imagined. Needless to say, I am so glad Drew convinced me that getting married in front of all of our family and friends would be the best way to…

10 Things I Loved and Not-So-Loved About Our Wedding
It’s been over a month since our wedding day and being married is honestly pretty great. You get to spend every day with your best friend and finally refer to him as husband. You say “we” whenever we make decisions and actually know that it is a “now” thing instead of a “soon-to-be”. You know that they are now your forever person until you are grey and old. But as each day as a married woman goes on, I can’t help but randomly think about our wedding day and things that make me go: “I’m so glad we did that!” and also, “Eek, we probably didn’t need that”. I have…

A new adventure!
I did it! I am finally starting my blogging journey. This has been something that I have been wanting to do since as early as high school. I have tried starting a blog probably 2 to 3 times in the past. I may even have half a dozen blog posts out there. But now that I have begun this new chapter of my life, I am starting fresh! Drew and I got married 2 weeks ago and just came back from our honeymoon in Santorini and Athens, Greece. He has known that I have been wanting to blog for a while but I never had the courage to start. The…
