    101 in 1001 Update #3

It’s been a while since my last 101 and 1001 Update back in November 2020 (feels like a lifetime ago), so I figured it would be a great time to do an update! Now that it’s been over a year and a few new life updates, I’ve had more time to spend on my hobbies, including this blog. Original Post Update #1: August 11, 2020 Update #2: November 15, 2020 Personal 1. Read at least 10 books (COMPLETE) I am surprised by myself that I COMPLETED this goal!!! I spent more time last year reading than I have in a few years (embarrassing, I know). In a previous post, I…

    My 8 Go-To Anxiety-Free Movies & TV Shows

Am I the only one that has a list of movies where I can pick one and am totally at ease? Some days during the week (or really any day), I feel a sense of anxiousness. This may be due to a busy workday or upcoming events or it just being a Monday. One of the ways I try to reduce my anxiety is to put on one of my favorite movies where I know exactly what’s going to happen and therefore no anxiety of the unknown. I’m obviously not a doctor (to my parents’ disappointment) but this is what helps me de-escalate my anxiety and feel calm and productive…

A Girls’ Weekend in San Antonio

Back in July, a girlfriend of mine and I spent a weekend in San Antonio! For those who know me IRL, San Antonio is one of my favorite cities to visit. It might be because it was where Drew and I went on our first vacation together in college or where we went for our first getaway (shoutout to La Cantera). We try to visit at least once per year, whether it’s a quick weekend trip or even a day trip from Austin. My friend had never visited before so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity for me to show her around one of my favorite places! Here…

What’s In My Bag? Pre-COVID Edition

I recently decided to change up my “normal” and work from my company’s local office. This was my first time back in a formal office setting since March 2020. Since then, I have been working from home and haven’t had an opportunity to use my work bag. I thought it would be a fun trip down memory lane to do a post about what I had in my bag when going to the office was a thing! My new group is 80%-100% remote so I most likely won’t be using a work bag anytime soon unless I work from my local office or end up traveling to Tampa for work.…

    3-Day Trip to Washington DC

We recently made a 3-day trip to the Washington DC and Virginia area to (1) visit my bestie and (2) attend a wedding! Now that we and almost all of our friends are vaccinated, we felt more comfortable traveling. Because the wedding was on a Friday, we decided to make a long weekend out of the trip. I hadn’t been to Washington DC since our last visit in 2015 so this trip was long overdue. Travel Accommodations Airfare: Round-trip, non-stop flight with Southwest Airlines from Houston Hobby (HOU) to Arlington Ronald Reagan (DCA) Housing: We stayed with my bestie at her apartment in Virginia! (Thank you Errrrr) 🙂Luckily all of…

    2021 Life Update

It has been a while since my last blog post (6 months to be specific). Since that time, we’ve lived through six more months of work-from-home and wanted to do a life update. Upon reflection, quite a few things have changed over the past six months and it’s fun to track life events and updates! I’m planning on doing another 101 in 1001 update soon with a (surprisingly) long list of updates. I finished my 4th busy season (5th year of work). I’ve worked at the same public accounting company since I graduated in 2016 and finished my 4th busy season. This would have been my 5th, but I missed…

    Our Dog-Friendly Getaway

I was seeing advertisements all over Instagram about these glamping vacation spots around the country called “Getaways”. When I learned that they were dog-friendly, I knew the three of us had to go for a socially distanced nature stay. After working from home for what feels like non-stop, I was looking for a socially distanced vacation where Drew and I could spend some quality time together and truly disconnect. The concept is simple: Local escapes to tiny cabins surrounded by nature to allow you to disconnect from technology and connect with loved ones. Here is how our dog-friendly Getaway went! Location The Getaways are meant to be a 1-hour-ish drive…

    10 Books I Read in 2020

At the start of the decade, I made a list of 101 things I wanted to do in 1001 days. One of these goals was to read at least 10 books over the next 2.75 years. I’m not a big reader (but huuuuuge book purchaser, holler) so 10 books seemed like a reasonable number for me. At some point during 2020, I decided I wanted to read 10 books throughout 2020 – and look at me now, I did it! One of my favorite hobbies is buying books, if you consider that a hobby. Do I read them? Probably not, but I wanted to change that. My overall plan is…

    101 in 1001 Update #2

In January, I started a list of 101 things I wanted to do in 1001 days. Now that my company has decided we are working from home most likely through the end of Q1 (that’s March 31st for you non-accounting/finance friends), I have finally decided to settle into this new “normal”. We have become *somewhat* more productive, at least as much as we can from staying at home. It has been over 3 months since my last update, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity do an update, especially because a lot of milestones have occurred (ie. anniversaries, elections, etc). A Day in the Life: Quarantine Edition

Happy March 214th! It’s hard to keep track of the date or even day of the week these days. We’re entering month six of working from home (crazy!) and have no plans to return until 2021. While I feel very lucky working from home because I have the resources and space to do so comfortably, I miss having a proper schedule that includes leaving the house. I thought it would be fun to document a day in the life: quarantine edition! One day we will look back on this time as a distant memory, so I figured it would be nice to have a record of a “typical” day. This…
