One thing we have made progress on during quarantine is our movie and show watching. My natural habitat is on the couch with something good, or just entertaining, on the TV. Everyone has been asking for recommendations so here are the movies and shows we have watched so far during quarantine and my ratings! Movies The Wrong Missy (Netflix) 2/5 If you want a background movie, this is the one. It’s about a guy (David Spade) who texts the wrong girl (Lauren Lapkus) to go on a weekend trip with his company. It’s vulgar and raunchy but had its funny moments. I’m not the biggest David Spade fan but Lauren…

101 in 1001 Update #1
In January, I started a list of 101 things I wanted to do in 1001 days. Obviously 2020 has been a terrible year but it’s nice to reflect back on that list to see how much I have done in only 7 months. Personal 1. Read at least 10 books (Making progress – 4 out of 10) As I said in my post, I’m not a big reader. I am lucky to finish even one book in a year, at yet, the first place I want to go to relax in a bookstore. This year, I have tried to challenge myself to pick up a book instead of my phone.…

Teaching Myself How To Code
I’m finally teaching myself how to code! I have wanted to (and talked about) doing this for years and decided that I’m just going to jump right into it. I am in the corporate accounting world for for my 8-6 job (let’s be real, who works a true 9-5 anymore) but wanted to do something more creative. Considering this is a huge difference from my day-to-day job, I want to document the entire process! Middle School “Mini-Courses” My interest for coding/computers/design started in middle school. I was in a gifted and talented program in middle school (shout-out to WAVE!). As part of our curriculum, we had “mini-courses” every Monday, Wednesday…

101 in 1001
In the spirit of the new year and decade, I want to challenge myself to accomplish short-term and long-term goals. Inspired by Design Darling, this list will have 101 things I want to accomplish over the next 1001 days (2.75 years). My goal is to complete all (if not most) of these items, but will try to stay realistic and remind myself that life happens. 101 Things in 1001 Days Start Date: January 15, 2020 End Date: October 12, 2022 Personal ( 0 / 17 ) Read at least 10 books (I’m not a big reader). Run (or walk) a 5K. Vote in the 2020 elections. Learn how to do…

2019 in Review
To be quite honest, this year has been an emotional roller coaster. I have experienced the deepest sadness, but also felt joy in many ways. As I reflect on this past year, I want to remember these moments that have defined the person that I am. It’s important to not discount and embrace the painful moments because they shape who you are and help you grow. January I hosted my best friends bachelorette weekly in Austin! It was filled with lots of hot tub-ing, pole dancing classes and explicit souvenirs (because duh). I’ve been to five bachelorette parties, including my own, and they have all been in Austin – but…

A new year.
At the start of every year, I go through a process of identifying various goals I want to achieve. I’ve tried setting generic goals such as “eat healthier”, to specific goals such as “drink 8 glasses of water a day”. Somehow I always find myself slacking off only a few weeks after I started. However, I recently realized that I wanted to change my focus this year away from specifics and toward a single mantra: Be where your feet are. For the better part of my life, I have been a planner. I’ve spent countless hours figuring out each second of my week, month, trying to optimize every day. As…

Post-Busy Season Life Update
It has been a hot minute since I last wrote a blog post. You see, I had big dreams and goals on what I would do with my blog since I started it back in December 2017. I had designed my page, written a few posts and even had an editorial calendar for future posts. Well, life hit me hard. More specifically, work hit me really hard. I have already somewhat talked about my job and the crazy hours we worked, but even I couldn’t have imagined how long our busy season would last this year. I wrote a post a few months ago about how to survive busy season.…

January 2018 Recap
PINCH ME! I can’t believe January is already over. This month has gone by so quickly – partly because I (not-so-secretly) want this busy season go be over with, and partly because I’ve been so busy! I wanted to make sure I spent enough time with friends and family before I had no life for the next five months. WEEK 1 | January 1 – January 7 The month started off with a fun game-night with one of our favorite newlywed friends (well the celebrations really started on NYE). They recently bought a house and hosted us for New Year’s Eve! We played our favorite games, ate lots of…

7 Ways to Survive Busy Season
Busy season is finally here! And although mine technically started last week, my thoughts on it remain the same: overwhelming, daunting and exhausting. For those who didn’t know, I went to The University of Texas in Austin for my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting and now work as an auditor for one of the Big 4 accounting firms in Houston As accountants, we each are given the gift of having a “busy season”. Mine usually lasts from January to May, which is longer than most. In auditing, our busy season is all about making sure that the 10-Ks those companies put out are legit. To me, this time of…

My Top 5 Passion Projects for 2018
I was scrolling through Instagram last night, as I usually do before bed, and stumbled upon the idea of passion projects. I thought it was just another Instagram hashtag that people were using, but I did some research (aka a Google search) and it’s actually a thing! A passion project is essentially a side project that interests you. Initially that seems pretty broad but I think that’s what makes it a great concept. I love the idea of having projects outside of your daily work life that is centered around a topic that you are passionate about. There have been plenty of things that I have always had an interest in but…
