101 in 1001 Update #1

In January, I started a list of 101 things I wanted to do in 1001 days. Obviously 2020 has been a terrible year but it’s nice to reflect back on that list to see how much I have done in only 7 months.

Personal

1. Read at least 10 books (Making progress – 4 out of 10)

As I said in my post, I’m not a big reader. I am lucky to finish even one book in a year, at yet, the first place I want to go to relax in a bookstore. This year, I have tried to challenge myself to pick up a book instead of my phone. So far I have read 4 books in 2020: Next Level Basic by Stassi Schroeder, Bachelor Nation by Amy Kaufman, Incomparable by Brie and Nikki Bella, and A Sucky Love Story by Brittani Louis Taylor.

10. Walk 10, 1000 steps every day for at least one week (COMPLETE)

I completed this when I went to Paris this year. We walked pretty much everywhere so it was easy to achieve 10,000 steps each day at a minimum.

12. Find the perfect winter coat (COMPLETE)

As part of our Paris trip, I ordered my new favorite coat from J. Crew. I purchased it via Poshmark and it arrived just in time – as in right before we left for the airport!

14. Buy my own laptop (COMPLETE)

I finally got a brand new laptop. It’s the HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 laptop. I haven’t had a personal laptop since I graduated from college in 2016. I have been using Drew’s desktop for 4 years and finally have my own.

15. Don’t drink Diet Coke for at least one month (COMPLETE)

I am proud of this one because I used to be that person who would have…more than 3 cans of Diet Coke a day. I am proud to say I haven’t had a Diet Coke, nor craved one, since Memorial Day and don’t plan on drinking one any time soon!

Professional

5. Learn a new coding language (HTML) (Making progress)

I started learning how to code a few weeks ago! I got through the full HTML lesson and am on my way to learning CSS, with my ultimate goal to be able to create my own website.

Marriage (and Gordo)

6. Celebrate Gordo’s 2nd birthday (COMPLETE)

Our sweet Gordo buddy turned 2 this year! He is officially a doggy teenager. We were mid-quarantine (still there) and didn’t get to do a birthday party, but we got him some new toys and bones that weekend!

Home

1. Paint our kitchen cabinets (COMPLETE)

This was our first big home project. I blogged our entire process, which took about a week and was less than $500. It was worth the time and effort and make our kitchen look brand new.

7. Help Drew organize our garage (COMPLETE)

We did this earlier in the summer and it has stayed somewhat organized. Because of all of the home projects we’ve been doing, there is always some sort of tool that’s out and being used.

8. Pay-off our bedroom furniture (COMPLETE)

We made our purchase in 2018 and finally paid off our furniture in July! One less payment we need to make each month.

Travel

7. Visit at least 5 new cities (Making progress – 1 out of 5)

We finally visited Waco this past weekend on our way home from Dallas. We of course visited Magnolia Home and Magnolia Market. The main lawn area was under construction so we will have to visit again another time – and when it’s not 100 degrees outside.

15. Visit the Magnolia Silos (COMPLETE)

See #7!

Just for Fun

11. Watch New Girl series (COMPLETE)

Drew and I finished the series while in quarantine (duh) doing our home improvement things. I can’t believe it took me so long to finish this series! It was the perfect show to bring some light to our quarantine.

I’m hoping to make more progress this year once if/when things become safer in the world, but I think this good progress for the year.

Happy quarantining!

Vivian
